What's new
What changed in every version of Pruneo.
Last updated:
1.5.2 · Pruneo for iPhone
- Pruneo is now on iPhone: it cleans duplicate and similar photos and large videos. Find it in Help › Pruneo for iPhone.
1.5.1 · Lighter
- Pruneo takes up about 0.6 MB less.
- The daily check now says whether your Mac is Intel or Apple Silicon, without identifying you, so we know how to distribute Pruneo.
1.5.0 · Photos and videos
- Review your photo library: duplicates, similar shots, screenshots, large videos and more.
- Click the photo you want to keep, or compare them full size.
- Compress photos and videos without deleting them.
- Pruneo now speaks 42 languages.
- Every page shows where you are and how to go back.
1.4.2 · More security
- Pruneo is stricter when uninstalling, updating itself and working with AI agents, so nothing touches what it shouldn't.
1.4.1 · Sharing a milestone, simpler
- When you share a milestone, the message is shorter and mentions us on X and Threads. The Trustpilot review opens in your language.
1.4.0 · Uninstalling apps, easier and more thorough
- Uninstalling is more complete: Pruneo removes the app with all its folders and files, and shows you how much it takes in total.
- Drag and drop: drop an app onto Pruneo or its Dock icon to uninstall it. Also from Finder: right-click › Services › Uninstall with Pruneo.
- App leftovers is clearer: you see which app each thing belongs to and which ones you no longer use.
- A simpler Overview, with what matters in sight.
- Pruneo is lighter: the download is a third smaller.
1.3.0 · Pruneo grows with your help
- You can now support Pruneo with a one-time contribution of US$ 5, 10 or 15. It helps us keep it going and keep improving it.
- Scheduled cleanups are now for contributors, as a small thank-you. Everything else stays the same: Pruneo is still free.
- Updating is much easier: when there's a new version, the robot at the bottom left lets you know and you install it in one click.
- Protected now has its own screen under Safety: choose the folders Pruneo must never analyze or suggest cleaning.
- Pruneo now speaks Brazilian Portuguese and German.
1.2.0 · Apple Intelligence, what everything is, and what grows
- Apple Intelligence: it measures how much its models take, turns off the features you don't use, deletes their models without touching the system and undoes it in one click. More details
- “What is this?” on every item: what it is, what happens if you clean it and where it is. With an agent connected, you can ask the AI and the answer is saved. More details
- What grew the most this month: the Summary shows which apps bloat over time.
- A search field in every list to clean the caches of a single app. In the Uninstaller, “Find its caches”.
- Quarantine on the disk card: how much it still takes and when it's freed.
- Try the quarantine: a test file goes and comes back in two clicks, in the welcome screen and in Quarantine.
- Easier AI agents: they install, sign in or download their model in one click, and Apple Intelligence tells you why it isn't available. More details
- Animated wallpapers: their videos, which can take several GB, can now be cleaned.
- iPhone and iPad backups show the device name and the date of the last backup.
- Fixes: if a copy already exists when restoring, it's numbered “(restored 2)”; Pruneo no longer waits forever if Spotlight hangs, and a newly installed agent shows up without restarting.
1.1.0 · Adapts to your Mac, with AI and MCP
- Adapts to your Mac: it looks at the apps and projects you actually use and builds its sections on its own. Profiles are gone. More details
- AI agent: it asks Apple Intelligence, Ollama, Claude Code, Codex or Gemini CLI about the large folders Pruneo doesn't know yet, with only their names and sizes. More details
- Help out (optional): what agents identify on several Macs becomes recognized automatically on every Mac. More details
- MCP server: with pruneo mcp, Claude Code, Codex and other agents scan the disk and clean what's safe, always to quarantine. More details
- Music projects: Ableton Live, Logic Pro and FL Studio, with their old backups and frozen tracks. More details
- Faster scans: it reads each folder in bulk and spreads the work across the cores. The smart scan goes from 14 s to 10 s, the disk map of your home folder from 23 s to 16.5 s, and finding large files is almost 4 times faster.
- Safer cleanup: what a program has open asks for confirmation, what changed since the scan isn't touched, it never follows links, and iCloud files that aren't downloaded are never moved.
- Adjustable quarantine: from 24 hours to 30 days, 48 hours by default.
- Tables sortable by any column, with “Last used” in Large & old files and in the Uninstaller.
- Time Machine explains what local snapshots are and why there are sometimes none.
- The rules catalog updates from the website, signed, without waiting for a new version.
- A new, calmer welcome: the scan starts when you ask for it.
1.0.8 · Lighter
- The app goes from 32 MB to 7 MB.
- It can also be installed with Homebrew: brew install --cask leanvitale/tap/pruneo.
1.0.7 · Dependencies and whole projects
- Dependencies: it flags vulnerable, malicious, deprecated or very old packages and unsupported runtimes in your projects. More details
- Purge whole projects to quarantine, checking first whether they're backed up in their repository.
1.0.5 · Open at login
- Pruneo can open at login, without opening its window.
- Uninstaller: sort by name, size or last used, with each app's icon.
