Pruneo
Beta v1.0.3 →

Clean your Mac 16× faster. Without deleting what matters.

Pruneo scans your Mac in seconds, finds what other apps miss (Docker, Node, Xcode, design and music caches) and sorts out what's safe to delete. Everything it cleans stays in quarantine for 48 hours.

This is it: smart scan, review before cleaning and the 48-hour quarantine.
Benchmarks

Faster. Lighter. And it cleans nearly 3× more.

Measured on the same Mac against three popular cleaners: CleanMyMac and Cleaner One Pro (App Store) and BuhoCleaner.

Main scan time

lower is better
One app, your whole disk

It looks where others don't.

For any Mac, with sections built for people who use theirs for work.

Cleanup

System and apps

System junk, browser and app caches, Downloads, duplicates, large files, leftovers from removed apps and a disk map.

Development

Docker, Node, Xcode

Docker images, Node versions, npm and pnpm caches, Xcode, Android, Python, Homebrew, local AI models and dependencies of projects you no longer open.

Creative

Design, video and music

Renders and caches from Adobe, Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve, Blender, Cinema 4D, Logic and Ableton. Your projects and samples stay put.

CPU and memory usage, processes, login items, busy ports and scheduled cleanups (only if you turn them on).

How much each section can free, in seconds.

02

Dry run

Without --yes it deletes nothing: it shows what it would do.

03

Clean and undo

Green items only. Everything goes to quarantine and restores with one command.

Safety

Powerful, with brakes.

The first thing built in Pruneo wasn't the clean button. It was the safety engine.

Three levels, always visible

SafeRebuilds itself. "Clean safe items" only removes these.
CheckAsks you to confirm a specific statement first.
LockedShows you why, and won't let you delete it.

If an app is open, Pruneo asks you to quit it before cleaning its caches.

Quarantine

48 h

Everything it cleans goes to quarantine first. If something breaks, restore it with one click. After that, it's deleted automatically.

What it never touches, even if you ask

Hard-coded rules. They can't be turned off.

What it doesn't do

What Pruneo doesn't do, on purpose.

Plenty of cleaners live off scaring you or charging you every month. This one doesn't.

No telemetry

No analytics, no usage data. What it finds on your disk stays on your Mac.

No accounts

Download it, open it, done. No sign-up, no email, no password.

No subscription

Free and complete: no Pro tier, no ads, no locked features.

No blind deletes

Before cleaning you see every item, its size and why it's safe to remove.

No hidden processes

Nothing keeps running in the background unless you schedule cleanups.

No fake boosts

Not an antivirus or a "RAM booster". It frees space and tells you the truth about your disk.

Price

Free. For real.

Download it and it's yours, complete. No 7-day trial, no Pro tier, nothing locked.

Chip in, if you like

If Pruneo helps you, you can chip in whatever you like, once. That's how we keep it going.

The only difference: your Pruneo updates itself. It tells you when there's a new version and installs it in one click. Without it, you download it from here, just as complete.

From the app: Settings › My contribution.

Install

Ready in a minute.

macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Apple Silicon (M1 and later) and Intel.

01Drag Pruneo into Applications from the downloaded file.
02Open it. macOS asks if you want to open an app downloaded from the internet: click "Open".
03Grant Full Disk Access in System Settings › Privacy & Security. Without it, macOS won't let it see the Trash or some caches.

Try it. If anything feels off, you have 48 hours to undo it.
